The long awaited live-action adaptation of the legendary series Gintama. Created by Sorachi, the Gintama manga made its debut in December 2003. The long-running series is set in an alternate Edo-period where aliens have taken over the world. A young hero named Gintoki leads the story as the freelance samurai who does odd jobs for rent money. But, when the hero becomes entangled with one of the planet’s alien invaders, he finds himself thrown into one hilarious episodic adventure.

Since 2003, Gintama has remained one of the top-ranked manga world-wide, with sixty-eight volumes have been published so far.
