Starring opposite Jay Chou in The Treasure Hunter is Taiwanese actress, singer and model Lin Chiling. One of the most recognised television personalities in Taiwan, Lin made her film debut in John Woo's 2008 historical epic Red Cliff.

In addition to playing the role of Lan Ting in The Treasure Hunter, Lin Chiling also sang the theme song for the film (for which she wrote lyrics and Jay Chou composed the score), a slow love song entitled 'Take Me Flying'.

The first scene in the movie was shot in the tourism district of Alxa Teng Ingrida Lake Grassland, inner Mongolia.

A landscape of boundless desert and blue sky, the unique geographical location resulted in tough shooting conditions for the cast and crew (who sometimes fought against the unyielding blows of wind and gravel) but provided an authentic, gritty backdrop to the film.

A custom-built bar built especially for the The Treasure Hunter, the 'Da Mo Hotel' is a wooden, American western style structure with an elaborately furnished interior. In order to facilitate a scene in which troops break into the hotel, the Da Mo's windows and doors were designed to be detachable, thus enabling the effect of a break-in without ruining the existing structure.

In another scene, we see troops besieging the hotel to kill Ciao Fei and his band. For this live action stunt, a smaller hotel was built in the same scale and littered with crossbows on the outside, giving it the appearance of being ripped down by troops in the film.

The winner of four World Music Awards, Jay Chou's music has gained recognition throughout Asia and sold over 25 million albums worldwide.

One of the best custom design supervisors in the world, Chen has worked in the industry for 20 years on over 80 films. Shirley won the Golden Horse for her styling direction on the cult classic Chinese Ghost Story in 1986 and received the Best Custom Designer award in the 42nd Golden Horse Awards for her work on the film KongFu.

The majestic, yet dusty landscape of The Treasure Hunter is captured perfectly with the help of Cinematographer Xiao-Ding Zhao.

A graduate of Beijing Film College, Zhao's internationally-renowned works include Zhang Yimou's Hero and House of Flying Daggers, the latter nominated for Best Cinematography at the Academy Awards. Xiao-Ding's other filmic works include The Treasure Hunter director Kevin Chu's Kung Fu Dunk and Zhang Yimou's 2007 release, Curse of the Golden Flower.

Matching the splendid, rugged photography of the film is the art direction of award-winning Chung-Man Yee.

Yee's career includes work on blockbuster Asian titles such as Curse of the Golden Flower, Perhaps Love and Kung Fu Dunk and his accolades include an Academy Award, Taiwanese Golden Horse and two Hong Kong Film Awards. Chung-Man is one of the most highly respected art supervisors in the international film industry.
